Featuring new content and a sleek new design, the magazine arises as the leader in the industry serving Houstonians and visitors alike with local cuisine and entertainment reviews and recommendations.

Under the direction of Fritz Colinet, Executive Creative Director and CEO of Retna Media, the dual cover magazine has been revamped to better serve the reader with refreshing content and relevant information. One side features Barstool, a convenient guide to the city including tips on entertainment and the nightlife “hot spots” .The other side Spoon is aimed at foodies, anyone interested in trying new foods, showcasing local cuisine and restaurants. Small enough to fit in a purse and equip with a directory listing, it helps visitors get a quick grasp of the area. The redesign will ultimately help build more awareness within the Houston restaurant and entertainment scene and drive more traffic to local businesses.

Fritz Colinet believes the redesign changes the entire feel of the magazine. “Our goal was to help brand Barstool as a frontrunner in nightlife and entertainment information; the go-to guide for what cool and off beat restaurants and lounges Houston has to offer, both the new favorites and the old favorites. There is a contemporary feel about the magazine that engages the consumer and gives them an empowerment of information. We wanted it to tell a nice story, to keep the reader’s interest from page to page. Ultimately, the redesign brings creative value to the magazine and elevates the brand in a different and fun way” expresses Colinet.

The new design has been showcased for the previous four months published by Ryan Echiverri. Each monthly issue covers such stories as grand openings, the “best of” restaurants, and upcoming local events. Readers will see an expansion of information on art galleries, museums, nightlife, and the hospitality industry in addition to a more visually appealing look. Its ease and convenience makes this portable magazine the primary source for Houstonians and visitors to find the entertainment they are looking for.
